After spending the last two years in the LEC with SK Gaming, mid-laner Daniel “Sertuss” Gamani is set to make a return to the European Regional League (ERL) scene, joining Team Heretics’ academy lineup in the LVP SuperLiga. This move comes as a direct response to the organization’s recent roster shuffles, which saw their former star mid-laner, Luka “Perkz” Perković, being benched from the LEC squad in favor of Artur “Zwyroo” Trojan.

Sertuss’ Journey Back to Pro Play

For those unfamiliar with Sertuss, the German mid-laner is a seasoned veteran whose name should be recognizable to most European viewers. During his tenure with SK Gaming, Sertuss experienced moderate success, with his most notable achievement being a 4th place finish in the LEC’s 2023 Winter Split.

However, after SK Gaming acquired former Cloud9 mid-laner Nisqy, Sertuss found himself without a team for the 2024 season. Despite his serviceable performance in the LEC, the oversaturated market of free agents and the limited mid-lane spots available made it challenging for Sertuss to secure a position in Europe’s premier league.

Through this move to Team Heretics, Sertuss will be returning to the ERL ecosystem and the LVP SuperLiga for the first time since the summer of 2018. Prior to his stint in the LEC, Sertuss was most known for his time with Misfits Premier and Schalke 04.

Heretics’ Myriad of Changes

Team Heretics has been undergoing a series of changes following their 7th place finish in the 2024 LEC Winter Split. As previously reported, the organization acquired Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus to become their new starting support, replacing Norman “Kaiser” Kaiser.

However, the more significant move came when the team decided to bench their star mid-laner, Luka “Perkz” Perković, in favor of their academy mid-laner, Artur “Zwyroo” Trojan. This unexpected decision was made with the intention of addressing the team’s ongoing issues with leadership and communication within the roster.

As a result of Zwyroo’s promotion to the LEC squad, Team Heretics found themselves in need of a replacement mid-laner for their SuperLiga lineup. According to sources, while the team engaged in negotiations with several free agents, Sertuss remained their clear top choice throughout the process.

After reaching an agreement with Sertuss yesterday, the organization has discarded other options and opted to go with the veteran German mid-laner.

Transition Period

Currently, Zwyroo is expected to continue playing for Team Heretics in the SuperLiga for the remainder of this week, while also competing in the LEC. Sources indicate that Sertuss will begin taking over Zwyroo’s role in the SuperLiga next week, once he becomes eligible to compete.

Looking Ahead

As the LEC Spring Split progresses, all eyes will be on Team Heretics to see how their roster changes, particularly the acquisition of Sertuss, will impact their performance. Sertuss’ return to the ERL scene is a testament to the depth of talent within the European competitive ecosystem, and his experience in the LEC could prove invaluable for Team Heretics’ academy squad.

Meanwhile, in the LEC, fans will be eagerly watching how Zwyroo adapts to the demands of Europe’s premier league and whether his promotion can help address the team’s issues with leadership and communication.

With the competitive landscape in constant flux, both Team Heretics and their newly acquired players will have their work cut out for them as they strive to improve their respective standings and solidify their positions within the European League of Legends scene.
